| It's remarkable that the Catholic church has survivied into modern time, they don't like stem cells, etc. They never conquered the Muslims, because they were too arrogant, etc. Compared to the Pope and the Catholic church Hitler and his Nazi buddies looks like sunday school boys. They slaughtered and tortured millions of people, even the Knight Templars. But one truth is also that without the Catholic church the Muslims would have expand even more. However the Catholic church conquered other regions like in South America, you know using missionaries can be more effective than soldiers. Hard working and poor people needed something to believe in, and the society needed strict rules and order. The ancient Aztects (natives) in South America could sacrifice 1000 people during one single ceremony. It's about power based on fear most of the times, not love as you could believe that the purpose of God should be if there is a God somewhere... Good pretensions can turn into really ugly ones. What have not humans done in the name of the Lord, or any Gods name... |
| If you ask young persons today about the Inquisition they don't know much... So as you can see... 600 years of horror is nothing. This is an extraordinary good example about how humans works pure mentally. Maybe some (ALIENS) should say that Mankind or humans don't deserve to survive. And today the Catholic church has about 1 billion supporters around the world. For them it's just normal. But maybe the Pope today could use his power to do something good like saving the rainforests for instance... |
